Johanna Van Loh, age 93 of Aplington, died on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Maple Manor Village in Aplington. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Wednesday at the St. Peters Country Church in rural Wellsburg with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-6:30 PM Tuesday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Johanna was born September 2, 1921 to Riebke and Lena (Lindaman) VanLoh, in Grundy County, Iowa. She attended the Flowing Well German Township #8 School until the 8th grade. She lived and helped her parents on the farm until her father’s death. Johanna and her mother then moved to Aplington. She worked as a housekeeper at Maple Manor Village and later at the Presbyterian Village. An important part of Johanna’s day was eating breakfast out with her friends at Penny Penguin and 3 C’s. She especially liked putting puzzles together when at home.

Johanna was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Country Church. Her church and church family played a vital role in her life. Johanna and Evelyn Tjabring shared inspirational programs with the residents at Maple Manor and the Presbyterian Village. Evelyn provided the music and Johanna read scripture.

Johanna is survived by several cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Riebke and Lena.
