Hazel Hobbs, 102, of Iowa Falls, passed away on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. followed by services at 1:30 on Monday, December 19 at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church near Wellsburg, with interment following in Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls. The Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Hazel Irene Hobbs was born on May 24, 1914 in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Dora (Hook) DeVries. She graduated from Aplington High School and in 1933 was united in marriage to Clarence Hobbs in Minnesota. She was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church. After 102 years of a well-lived life, she passed away peacefully on Dec. 7, 2016 after residing for more than twenty-five years in Iowa Falls.

Hazel is survived by her two daughters-in-law, Vicki Hobbs of Columbia, MO and Tucky Hobbs of Pinehurst, NC; eight grandchildren, Terry Hobbs (Brigid) of Falls Church, VA, Denise Coyne of Webster Groves, MO, Julie Kirby (Mark) of Kansas City, MO, Mary Hobbs of Accra, Ghana (Africa), Scott Hobbs (Christina) of Denton, TX, Randy Hobbs (Jennifer) of Kent, CT, Tracey Scherer (Jim) of Atlanta, GA, and Holly Hobbs of New Orleans, LA; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sons, Daryl and Dennis Hobbs.
