Betty L. Hines, 86, of Conrad, IA, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, in Grundy Center, IA. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W., Main St., Marshalltown, IA. Pastor Kerry Jech will be officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Anderson Funeral Homes, Marshalltown. Interment will be at Conrad Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name.

Betty was born October 19, 1930 to Clyde and Bessie (Nelson) Holman, in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from Newell High School. Betty was united in marriage to Lowell Hines on November 30, 1947 at the Methodist Church, in Newell, IA. She farmed along with her husband in the Newell area until 1966 when they moved to Winthrop, IA farming there until 1970. They moved to Conrad in 1970 where she employed with Wolf Creek Primitives and Oakview Nursing Home. Betty was a former member of New Hope Christian Church, in Marshalltown. She was a charter member of the Blue Star Mothers serving as a state president and Conrad chapter president. When Betty was not visiting family, friends and grandchildren, she enjoyed sewing, quilting and traveling.

Betty will be missed by four children; Greg L. (Karen) Hines, Dennis R. (Janice) Hines, Cheryl A. (Jeffery) Folkerts, Michael L. (Lisa) Hines, nine grandchildren; Adam (Amanda) Hines, Amy (Wade) Davidson, Jeremy (Mary Beth) Hines, Joel (Jennifer) Hines, Jason (Stacey) Hines, Andrew Vallee, Robert (Hailee Witty) Hines, Ryan (Mary) Hines , Nathaniel (Mariah Mabe) Folkerts, 13 great grandchildren, and a sister, June Mahon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell, an infant son, Craig Hines, an infant grandson, Alex Hines, an infant granddaughter, Valentina Marie Hines, and a brother, Kenneth Bonde.
