Will Engelkes, Holland Farmer, Died Thursday

Will Engelkes, 65, of Holland, died at the Grundy hospital about 2 a.m. Thursday morning, following a series of heart attacks. He entered the hospital the day before his death.

Will Engelkes was born in Beaver township, Sept. 21, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Engelkes. He was married to Lena Smit of Colfax township, December 18, 1918. They farmed northwest of Fern for one year, then moved to their present farm southwest of Holland where they have lived for 34 years.

Surviving besides the widow are four daughters: Esther, Arlene and Mae, all at home, and Alma, (Mrs. G. D. Smith), of Eagle Grove; two grandchildren; three brothers, E. J., O. J. and Ben, all of Parkersburg; four sisters, Mrs. Harry Klosterboer, Grundy Center, Mrs. Harm Vanderholt, of Wellsburg, Mrs. Sievert VanHauen, Parkersubrg, Mrs. Jake Rindels, New Hartford. Mr. Engelkes was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian church and was active in choir work, having been a member of the choir for many years.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the Colfax Center church, and burial was in the Colfax Center cemetery.
