Mrs. A. J. Kruger Dies at Hospital

Mrs. Albert J. Kruger from Fern died last Thursday evening at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital following a heart attack. Her first heart attack came some time ago, from which she seemed to have fully recovered. The second attack came last Monday, after which she was taken to the hospital. She was 67 years old.

Mrs. Kruger's maiden name was Lena Wolthoff. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ontje Wolthoff. She was born in Black Hawk county, Iowa, February 28, 1892.

On December 28, 1911, Lena Wolthoff and Albert Kruger were married. The first year of their married life was on a farm in Lincoln township. The next 22 years they resided on a farm in Colfax township. In 1935 they moved to Fern, where Mr. Kruger engaged in the mercantile business.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center and later at the Colfax Center Presbyterian church with Rev. W. Eekhoff officiating. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Surviving are the husband, one son Orlen, and three daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Clarence Arends, Reinbeck; Mrs. Kenneth Pruisner, Holland; and Mrs. Roy Kleinhart, Cedar Falls. There are 12 grandchildren. Other surviving members of the family are one brother, Fred Wolthoff, LeRoy, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Shafstal, Reinbeck; Mrs. Mary Sargent, Mediapolis, Iowa; and Mrs. Leo Olson, LeRoy, Minn.
