Mrs. Rena Kruger Died Tuesday
Mrs. Rena Kruger, 72, died at her home in Grundy Center Tuesday evening about 7:30 o'clock. She suffered a stroke two weeks ago and her condition had gradually declined since then. Mrs. Kruger had been an invalid nearly 50 years.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the Engelkes funeral home, followed by services in the Bethany Presbyterian church at 2. Rev. F. J. Langenberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Colfax cemetery.
Rena Pruisner was born Dec. 9, 1879, on a Lincoln township farm in Grundy county. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Pruisner. She was married to Henry K. Kruger on March 3, 1898. They farmed three miles east of Fern for three years and spent four years on a farm two miles northeast of Holland. It was during this time that Mrs. Kruger was stricken with arthritis, and she had been confined to a wheelchair for many years.
Mr. and Mrs. Kruger moved to Grundy Center where he owned a variety store for many years. Mr. Kruger died October 5, 1946. The couple had no children. Mrs. Kruger had been a member of the Bethany Presbyterian church for many years and although she was unable to attend services in the church, she enjoyed the services over the public address system which connected her home with the church.
The deceased is survived by nine brothers and sisters and a large number of nieces and nephews. Her nephew Henry Kruger and his family had cared for her the past three years.
Survivors are Mrs. Fannie Goens, Mrs. Becky Goens, both of Bemis, So. Dak.; John, Henry, Manne and Anton Pruisner, all of Winnebago, Minn.; Mrs. Hattie Kruger, Grundy Center; Mrs. Minnie Sweet, Winnebago, Minn.; Mrs. Florence Cegelski, Guckeen, Minn.
