Funeral Saturday For John Junker, Lifelong Resident

Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the home and later in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church for John R. Junker, 64, lifelong resident of the northwest Grundy county area.

Rev. Wiert Eekhoff officiated at the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Music for the service was furnished by the Colfax men's quartet composed of Alvin Smit, Virgil Smit, James Kruse and Orlen Kruger. Mrs. Hiriam Dieken was organist.

Pallbearers were Rudolph Junker, Aielt Sents, Rudolph Sents, Richard Junker, John E. Graves and Alvin Weise.

Flower attendants were Mrs. John A. Hook and Mrs. W. J. Lindaman. Serving as ushers were Evert Heikens, George Schmidt, Arnold Tjepkes and Roy Groote.

Obituary
John Rud Junker, son of Rudolph and Bauke Junker, was born August 8, 1896, in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy County. On Feb. 23, 1921, he was united in marriage to Rachel Meester. The Lord blessed this marriage with four children.

Mr. and Mrs. Junker were engaged in farming on his parents' farm for 27 years. In 1947 they moved to their present home near Aplington.

Mr. Junker attended the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church until his health did not permit him to do so.

Throughout these past years he had been in failing health, and on Monday, April 3, he was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, where he departed this life at 3 a.m., April 4, having reached the age of 64 years, 7 months, 26 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 6 sisters, and 1 grandson.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife; two sons, Raymond of Aplington and Vernon of Evansdale; 2 daughters, Mrs. Marian Paterni and Mrs. John Hippen of Aplington.

Also one brother, Ed, of Cedar Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Lupke H. Hook of Grundy Center, Mrs. Fred Sents of Aplington, and Mrs. Clarence Meester of Parkersburg; and 9 grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
