Mrs. John J. Stahl Funeral August 10

Mrs. John J. Stahl, 61, a resident of Colfax township all of her life, passed away Saturday evening about 6:10 o'clock at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital following a second stroke. She was taken to the hospital shortly after suffering her first stroke last Monday.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home, followed by a service in the Colfax Presbyterian church. Rev. W. Eekhoff officiated. Burial was in the Colfax cemetery. Pallbearers were 6 nephews, Benjamin Groote, Hiriam Dieken, Alvin Stahl, Alvin Lutterman, Don Stahl and Carroll Stahl.

Martha Franken, daughter of Chris and Emma Franken, was born on a farm in Colfax township January 30, 1894. She continued to make her home in Colfax township following her marriage to John J. Stahl on January 24, 1923. Mrs. Stahl had lived on the same farm for over 50 years of her life. She was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian church, and taught Sunday School for many years.

The deceased is survived by her husband; two children, Calvin and Norma Jean (Mrs. Fred) Terfehn of Holland, and two grandchildren. Also by two foster brothers, Melvin and John Fletcher, and by a foster sister, Mrs. Herman Stahl. One child died in infancy. Her mother died last December, and two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Stahl and Mrs. Jake Stahl, also preceded her in death as well as two brothers, who died several years ago.
