Mrs. R. Stickfort Dies Suddenly From Heart Stroke

Mrs. Remmert Stickfort died suddenly at her home about 5:30 Friday morning from a heart attack. She woke up about 4 o'clock in the morning and complained about gas on the stomach. Her husband fixed something for her and called in one of the neighbors, Mrs. Ben Sonnenberg. She died before Mrs. Sonnenberg got there. She passed away while seated in a chair. Mrs. Stickfort had been troubled with these occasional gas attacks for some time, but they always cleared up after she took something for them.

The news of Mrs. Stickfort's sudden death was heard with deep regret by the many friends of the family.

A short funeral service was held at the home Tuesday afternoon and later at the gospel hall at Stout, with Rev. Oliver Smith of Waterloo officiating. Burial was in the Holland cemetery. She was saved Feb. 21, 1928.

Mrs. Stickfort was 67 years, 5 months and 21 days old at the time of her death. She was born in Bunde, Ostfriesland, Germany. Forty years ago she came to this country. She came to this section of Iowa and six months later she was married to Remmert Stickfort. The couple lived at Abbott for the first three months. After that time they moved to Holland where they lived four years while Mr. Stickfort worked with the Rock Island section crew. After that they moved on the farm. They first started farming south of Wellsburg. They occupied other farms near Grundy and Holland until they bought a place in Lincoln township on which they lived until 15 years ago when they moved to Holland.

Surviving are the husband, five sons and two daughters. The sons are Jake and John from Waterloo, and Will, Richard and Ben from Grundy county. The daughters are Mrs. Jay DeNeui of Hardin county and Mrs. Adolph Hippen, Grundy Center. One daughter preceded her mother in death.

The pallbearers were Mrs. Stickfort's five sons and her son-in-law, Jay DeNeui.
