Joseph A. Davis, age 61, formerly of Eldora, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 28, at the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church in New Providence. Visitation will be Friday, February 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will in the Holland Cemetery in Holland, Iowa. Pursel Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown is entrusted with arrangements.

Joseph was born September 10, 1947, in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Lyle E. and Helen Venenga Davis. Joseph graduated from the New Providence school in 1967. He was a resident of the Eldora area for many years, but did reside in Marshalltown for 8 years, working at Sambos Restaurant and the Four Quarters Restaurant west of town. Joseph enjoyed listening to big band music from the early days through the 1960’s.

Joseph is survived by; his brother Jim (Rosie) Davis of Muscatine; nephews, Dan Davis of Muscatine and Stuart Davis of California; his 2 aunts, Arvilla Gerloff of New Hartford and Margie (Art) Jurchen of Wellsburg; and 2 great-nephews, Austin and Daniel Davis of Muscatine.

His parents preceded him in death.
