Sidney Frerichs, 87

Sidney W. Frerichs, 87, of Osage died Monday, December 1, 2003, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Sidney was born December 5, 1915 in Holland, IA, the son of Weert Hermanus and Henderika (Stoehr) Frerichs. Sidney was raised and educated in the Grundy Center area, graduating from Grundy Center High School in 1933. He received a business degree from Gates Business College in Waterloo and began his business career as a salesman for Archer Oil headquartered in Omaha, NE. He moved to Osage in 1946, where he owned a local tavern and later purchased Osage Beverage Company, which was affiliated with Old Style Brewing Company of LaCrosse, WI. He was the credit manager at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, from 1970 until his retirement 10 years later.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Rev. Thomas Healey (Chaplin of Hospice North Iowa) officiating. Interment was in the Holland Cemetery.

Sidney is survived by 1 sister-in-law, Myrle Frerichs of Osage; 1 niece, Deborah Frerichs of Eden Prairie, MN; 1 nephew, William Frerichs of Laramie, WY; 1 grand-nephew, Philip Frerichs of Dover, DE; and 1 grand-niece, Rebecca Frerichs of Mumbai, India.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, E. Edward Frerichs, and an infant brother, Hermanus Frerichs.
