Funeral Services For Lamka Getting

Lamka Getting of Grundy Center, passed away of natural causes on Monday, February 26, 1996, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa, having attained the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 5 days.

Born January 21, 1914, in Lincoln township, Grundy county, Iowa, Lamka was the daughter of Tonjes and Weatska (Heerts) Meyer. She grew up and attended school in Grundy County. On November 24, 1938, Lamka was united in marriage to Clarence F. Getting in Holland, Iowa. The couple farmed near Holland until Clarence's death in 1970. Lamka then made her home in Grundy Center, becoming a resident of the Grundy Care Center in October of 1989. She was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church in Holland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; two sisters, Fannie Rust, and one in infancy; and two brothers-in-law, Menno Venenga and Wilbur Rust.

Survivors include one son, Harley Getting and wife Jerilyn of Hibbing, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Galen Getting and wife Crystal of Hibbing, Minnesota, and Katherine and husband Walter John of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and one sister, Anna Venenga of Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 1, 1996, at the Holland Christian Reformed Church in Holland, Iowa, with Pastor Gary Nibbelink officiating. Burial followed in the Holland Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Pallbearers were Bernard Eilderts, Jim Getting, Marvin Nederhoff, Jerry Schoolman, Norm Venenga, and Wendell Venenga.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
