Alice Oltman Services Held
Alice Oltman of Holland passed away Wednesday, April 26, at the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes, having attained the age of 99 years, 2 months and 26 days.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 29, at the Holland Christian Reformed Church in Holland at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Gary Nibbelink officiating. Burial followed in the Holland Cemetery, Holland.
Pallbearers were John Oltman, Dicky D. Oltman, Tim Tripp, Dennis Dreesman, Ralph Oltman and Richard Oltman.
Memorials may be directed to the Grundy County Hospice.
Mrs. Oltman was born January 28, 1896, in the Netherlands, the daughter of Arend and Trentje (Hector) Swygman. She came to the United States with her family as a child. On February 3, 1914, Alice was united in marriage to Dick Oltman Sr. in Butler county. The couple made their home in Holland.
Alice was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church and the Ladies Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; 1 son, John; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her parents; 1 brother, Dick Swygman; and 3 sisters, Fannie Nieman, Sena Engelkes and Susie Henze.
Survivors include 8 children, Ernest (Mary) Oltman of Waterloo, Reiner (Frances) Oltman of Stout, Ben (Hilda) Oltman of Parkersburg, Helen (Henry) Druvenga of Parkersburg, Trena (Sam) Dreesman of Dike, Dick (Anna Mae) Oltman of Grundy Center, Fannie (William) Bruns of Dike, and Jadean (Jim) Tripp of Reinbeck; 27 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
