Paul H. Bantz, of Holland, passed away Sunday, February 26, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of natural causes, having attained the age of 87 years, 11 months and 20 days.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28, at the Holland Christian Reformed Church in Holland at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Gary Nibbelink officiating. Burial followed in Holland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wayne Nederhoff, Steven Nederhoff, Anthony Nederhoff, Susan Nederhoff, Raymond Nederhoff and Andrew Nederhoff. Honorary bearers were Jenny Nederhoff, Julie Nederhoff, Christy Nederhoff, Bonnie Nederhoff, Tyler Nederhoff and Michael Nederhoff.
Paul H. Bantz was born March 6, 1907, in White River Township, Indiana, the son of Oliver and Laura (Humphrey) Bantz. Paul worked in a shipyard in Oregon, was a cook in Chicago, and then moved to Iowa where he owned and operated restaurants in Zearing and Wellsburg and cooked at the Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. He later owned and operated Lakeview Resort on Leach Lake in Walker, Minnesota.
Paul was united in marriage to Germa Gertrude Rhodes on January 3, 1930, in Toledo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Germa in 1967; his parents; and 3 brothers, Robert, Ernest and Herbert.
Survivors include 2 children, Beverly and husband, Art Nederhoff of Holland, and Robert Bantz of Fort Lauderdale, FL; 4 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
