Hattie Miller Services Held

Hattie Miller, of Grundy Center, died Friday, September 30, at the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes, having attained the age of 92 years, 3 months and 29 days.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 3, at the Holland Christian Reformed Church in Holland at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. David Dykstra officiating. Burial followed in the Holland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Fred Everts, Bernard Everts, John R. Schipper, John J. Schipper, William Schipper and George Schipper.

A memorial fund has been established.

Hattie Miller was born June 1, 1902, in Wymeer, Germany, the daughter of George and Antje (Blom) Schipper. She came to Butler county as a child, where she grew up and was educated.

On March 2, 1921, Hattie was united in marriage to Jake B. Miller. They farmed in Beaver Township until they retired to Holland in 1946. Hattie has lived for the past six years in the Long Term Care Unit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake in 1987; her parents; one son, Ben J. Miller in 1982; 1 grandson, Roger Meyer; 8 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Ann and husband, Delbert Meyer of Holland; 1 son, John and wife, Phyllis Meyer of Hampton; 1 daughter-in-law, Irene Miller of Eldridge; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
