Marilee Henze Services Held

Marilee Henze, of Holland, passed away Monday, August 29, 1994, at the Hospice Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of cancer, having attained the age of 50 years, five months and four days.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 2 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Calvin W. Vanderwerf officiated.

Pallbearers were T.J. Heronimus, Merle Bakker, Paul Engelkes, Norman VanDeest, Merv Stensland and Gene Venenga.

Burial followed in Holland Cemetery, Holland.

Marilee Ann Henze was born March 25, 1944, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Clarence and Mae (Dirks) Kruse. She received her education through the eighth grade in Holland, then attended Grundy Center High School where she graduated with the Class of 1962. Marilee went on to attend Young's School of Beauty in Waterloo.

On September 23, 1964, Marilee was united in marriage to Arthur Henze at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. The couple made their home in Holland where Marilee ran her own beauty shop for several years. They then moved to their farm north of Holland, where she lived until the time of her death.

She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center where she served on the Board of Trustees, was a member of the choir, and was a charter member of the Bethany Bellringers. Marilee was also a member of the Grundy Center Woman's Club, where she participated in their Music Club and the Colfax Homemakers Club.

Marilee is survived by her husband Arthur; one son, John and wife Pamala Henze of Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Alison Henze of Des Moines; her parents, Clarence and Mae Kruse of Holland; two brothers, Roger and wife, Pat Kruse of Homer, Nebraska, and Charles and wife, Betty, Kruse of Holland; numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
