Services Held Wednesday For Tena Tiggelaar

Mrs. Rena Tiggelaar of Holland passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Reformed Church, Holland, on Wednesday, October 21, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor I. W. Meuzelaar officiated.

The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "How Great thou Art." The accompanist was Mrs. Raymond Hinders, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Dennis Hinders, Les Meester, Paul Hutter, Jim Lewis, Jason Meester, Cory Meester and James Hutter.

The ushers were Edwin Brower and Jasper Westerman. Mrs. Jasper Westerman and Mrs. Virgil Getting were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the Christian Reformed Church Cemetery, Holland.

Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mrs. Tiggelaar was born on October 7, 1894, in the Netherlands, the daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth Embers Kuiper. She attained the age of 93 years and 11 days.

She came to America when she was 19 years old in 1914, with her family, settling in the Holland area.

On August 23, 1915, she was united in marriage to Heiko Tiggelaar at the Colfax Center Church parsonage by Rev. Drake. They lived all their married life in the Holland area.

On June 12, 1984, she became a resident of the Long Term Care Unit.

She was a long time member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Heiko on July 26, 1985, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Cooley (Agnes) Hinders of Holland, Mrs. John (Betty) Seehusen of Grundy Center and Mrs. Louie (Ann) Hutter of Holland; three brothers, Harm Kuiper of Kalamazoo, MI, Matthew Kuiper of Kalamazoo, MI and John Kuiper of Paw Paw, MI; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Adams of Parchment, MI, Mrs. Harriett Kiewiet of Parchment, MI and Mrs. Jennie Gruis of Albert Lea, MN; seven grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, 11 great-grandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
