Minnie Stahl, Age 93, Dead

Minnie Stahl, age 93, of Eldora, and formerly of Holland, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, December 8, 1981 at the Eldora Community Hospital after being a patient there for one day.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 10 at the Colfax Center Church, rural Holland, with the Rev. Jerry VanCurler officiating.

Mrs. Tom Simms sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross." She was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hinders who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Robert Brower, Charles Brower, Bernard Brower, Dick Reisinger, Alan Chaplin and Dennis Weltha. Harry Ascher and Herman Akkerman served as ushers. Mrs. Donald Ennenga, Mrs. Edward Schoolman and Mrs. Clarence Kruse were in charge of floral arrangements.

Burial was in the Holland cemetery. Friends and relatives were invited to return to the church following the committal service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mrs. Stahl was born on December 12, 1887, in Germany, the daughter of Johan and Henrietta Junker Johnson. She attained the age of 93 years, 11 months and 26 days. When she was three years old she came to America with her brother Dick to a farm in Grundy County near Aplington. On May 26, 1910 in Holland she was united in marriage to Dick C. Brower. He passed away on January 21, 1953. Later she was united in marriage to Andrew Stahl. Shortly after his death she went to live with her daughter Alice in Eldora. She was a member of the Colfax Center Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first and second husbands, one son, Carl, one daughter, Esther, one granddaughter and one brother.

She is survived by two sons, Edwin Brower of Holland and Calvin Brower of Enid, OK; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Reisinger of Eldora and Mrs. Henry (Berdean) Graham of Cedar Falls, four step-children, Luella Nederhoff of Wellsburg, Alvin Stahl of Holland, Vernon Stahl of Wellsburg and Mrs. Alvin (Alma) Lutterman of Holland; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
