Alida Dreesman Funeral Thursday

Mrs. Thomas D. (Alida) Dreesman, 57, of Holland, died Tuesday morning, August 21 at 4:25 o'clock in the Allen Memorial hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in the Colfax Center Presbyterian church. Rev. Jerry VanCurler, assisted by Rev. Karl Wiersum, will officiate. Burial will be in the Holland cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas, two daughters, Linda of Cedar Falls and Susan of Holland, her mother, Mrs. Hattie Poppen of Holland, six sisters, Mrs. Peters (Edna) Hemmen of Aplington, Mrs. Anna Thoren of Holland, Mrs. Vernon (Grace) Stahl, Wellsburg, Mrs. Art (Mabel) Freese, Dike, Mrs. Irvin (Mathilda) Dieken of Dike and Mrs. Elmer (Harriett) Muller of Holland.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established. A complete obituary will be in the paper next week.

Mrs. Dreesman's Services Held

Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas D. (Alida) Dreesman of Holland were held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jerry VanCurler and Rev. Karl Wiersum officiating.

Mrs. James Willms sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Room At The Cross For You." She was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hinders who also played prelude and postlude selected numbers.

Casket bearers were Wallace Wilts, Richard Redix, George Heronimus, Alvin Stahl, Jake Schoneman and Marlyn Flater. Harm G. Hook and Harry Ascher were ushers. Burial was in the Holland cemetery. Relatives and friends returned to the church for fellowship and lunch following the committal service. Eldon Klaassen provided a car for the family use.

She was born March 24, 1922 in Colfax township, Grundy County, Iowa and died Tuesday, August 21, 1979 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo from cancer after attaining the age of 57 years, four months and 27 days. She was the daughter of Adam and Hattie Brower Poppen. On August 22, 1940 she was married to Thomas D. Dreesman at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church by Rev. Lindaman. After their marriage they farmed in Lincoln township three years, Washington township seven years, then in Colfax and Beaver townships. They spent three years at Aplington before moving to Holland in 1970. She was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church and had been employed in the Lindaman grocery store at Holland for seven years.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas, two daughters, Linda of Cedar Falls and Susan of Holland, her mother, Mrs. Hattie Poppen of Holland, six sisters, Mrs. Peter (Edna) Hemmen of Aplington, Mrs. Anna Thoren of Holland, Mrs. Vernon (Grace) Stahl of Wellsburg, Mrs. Art (Mabel) Freese of Dike, Mrs. Irvin (Mathilda) Dieken of Dike and Mrs. Elmer (Harriett) Muller of Holland.
