Funeral Held For Elizabeth Hut

Services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Holland Christian Reformed Church for Mrs. Elizabeth Hut, 87, who died Friday, March 5, 1976 at 11:40 p.m. in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Rev. Donald VanGent of the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church, officiated. Mrs. Jasper Westerman and Mrs. Ernest Henze sang "Nearer, Still Nearer" and "Beyond The Sunset." They were accompanied by Mrs. Bert Heerts who also played selected prelude and postlude organ numbers. Pallbearers were Ed Schoolman, Ed Brower, Bill Hinders, Jr., Alvin Meyer, Dick Luhrs and Jasper Westerman. Ushers were Paul Bettenga and Dale Weichers. Mrs. Ed Brower and Mrs. Alvin Meyer were floral attendants. Burial was in the Holland cemetery.

She was born February 17, 1889 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the daughter of Lucas and Johanna Wilders Hassoldt. She was married to Klaas Witbaard in 1912. They came to America in 1922. Mr. Witbaard died in 1936. On September 5, 1938 she was married to George Hut. They made their home in Holland for many years. He died May 20, 1970. Mrs. Hut was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church many years.

Survivors include five daughters and one son, Mrs. Alida Saathoff, Parkersburg; Mrs. Betsey Kelley, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Maria Papalexis, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Johanna Sorkness, Fort Benton, Montana; Mrs. Neeltje Gingrich of Torrance, Calif., and Klaas Witbaard of Buena Park, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Alida DeBoes of the Netherlands, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangement were made by the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home.
