Dave Zingg, 95, Died Monday

David Zingg Sr., died Monday, December 29, 1975 at 6:30 a.m. in the Beverly Manor Convalescent Center at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 14 days.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Vanderwerf officiating. Selected organ tapes were played before and after the service. Pallbearers were Conrad Flater, Ernest Flater, Fred Walbaum, Gordon Petersen, Cecil Peters and C. W. Niehaus. Burial was in the Holland, Iowa cemetery.

He was born June 15, 1880 near Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Gottfried and Anna K. Brown Zingg. He grew to manhood in Kossuth County, Iowa. On February 11, 1911 he was united in marriage to Hilbrandina J. Beenken. They were the parents of two children, Luitjen and David Jr. Following their marriage they farmed near Grundy Center. His wife died in 1943. During World War II he worked for a year for Associated Manufacturers of Waterloo, and later worked several years for Construction Machinery Co. of Waterloo.

On March 1, 1945 he was united in marriage to Gladys Clark Hicok. She died in August of 1945. Early in the 1950's he moved to Buffalo Center to live with his brothers. In 1960 he returned to Grundy Center to live. He stayed at the Grundy Hotel until March 1, 1974 when he became a resident of Beverly Manor.

Mr. Zingg is survived by one son, David, of Knoxville, one grandson, Henry Zingg of Grundy Center and one great-grandson, Brian Zingg. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one son, five brothers and three sisters.
