Services Monday For Albert Meyer

Funeral services were held Monday at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church for Albert Meyer, 58, who died Thursday afternoon at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for 1 day. Burial was in the Holland cemetery. He had been in failing health for several months following surgery at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Albert Meyer was born Nov. 9, 1911 in Washington township, Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Deddo and Ella Dreesman Meyer. On Dec. 7, 1939, he was married to Margaret Itzen in Nashua, Iowa. He had been a painter and carpenter most of his life. Almost all of their married life, 31 years, they lived in Holland.

He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his widow, Margaret; two children, Linda, Mrs. Les Meggers of Traer, and Paul, at home; three brothers, Tom of Marshalltown, William of Wellsburg and Alvin of Holland; eight sisters, Mrs. Wm. (Grace) Finney of Gig Harbor, Wash., Mrs. John (Anna) Conradi of Grundy Center, Mrs. Ralph (Elizabeth) Murphy, Mrs. LaVern (Marian) Dieken and Mrs. Dale (LaVine) Weichers, all of Holland, Mrs. Leo (Alice) Heid of Dike, Mrs. Walter (Tena) Mohlis of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Calvin (Lorraine) Heronimus of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of arrangements.
