Mrs. L. G. Beenken Passed Away

Mrs. L. G. Beenken passed away peacefully at her home in Holland about 5:30 Friday morning. For the last few years she was afflicted with Brights' disease. While the family knew that the mother's condition was serious they were not prepared for the end to come so soon and it was a severe shock to them. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Pontow, were held at the church in Holland yesterday afternoon, and they were very largely attended. The remains were laid to rest in the Holland cemetery.

Mrs. Beenken's maiden name was Cathrina Marks. She was born in Eastfriesland, Germany, Aug. 26th, 1847. She was married to L. G. Beenken in the old country in 1873. The family came to this country in 1884 and moved to this county. They bought a farm in Lincoln township which remained their home until they moved to Holland fourteen years ago.

Mrs. Beenken is survived by her husband and six children and seventeen grandchildren. The oldest son, Gerhart preceded the mother in death by five years. The surviving children are Ludwig, Mrs. David Zingg, Luitjen, Henry, Mrs. John Walbaum and Herman. All of the children live in the county.

Mrs. Beenken was a loyal and devoted wife and mother. She was strongly attached to her family and gladly devoted her time to making a comfortable home for them. Her neighbors had a high regard for her and her death is deeply regretted by them as it is mourned by the surviving father and the children.
