Services Held For Tena Luchtenburg

Mrs. Tena Luchtenburg of the Allison Manor, and formerly of Parkersburg, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 1984, in the Waverly Municipal Hospital in Waverly. She had reached the age of 90 years, 10 months and two days.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 30, in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church with Rev. Carl Regnerus officiating. Alvina Walterman was the organist, and Darlene DeVries and Loretta Arends sang "God's Way" and "The Love of God." The congregational recessional hymn was "Take Time To Be Holy." Casketbearers were grandsons Wendell Luchtenburg, Darrell Brandt, Roger Doescher, Tony Anderson, Kirk Anderson, and Ron Luchtenburg.

Tena was born the daughter of Harm and Gertje W. Goldhorn Wolters on May 26, 1893, in Pleasant Valley township in Grundy county. She attended rural school near her home.

On November 3, 1914, Tena was united in marriage to John Luchtenburg in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland. They farmed in Grundy county near Buck Grove until retiring and moving to a small acreage on the home place near Buck Grove. They moved to 711 2nd Street, Parkersburg, in 1965. John died in 1968.

Tena was a life long member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church. She was baptized in the church on November 5, 1893.

Mrs. Luchtenburg is survived by her one son, John Luchtenburg, Parkersburg; two daughters, Grace (Mrs. John) Brandt of Parkersburg and Delores (Mrs. Terry) Anderson of Cedar Falls; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; two daughters, Helen Luchtenburg and Mrs. Jennie Doescher; and her parents.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home of Parkersburg was in charge of arrangements.
