Ontje Hook Died Near Parkersburg
Ontje Hook died last Friday at his home on farm northeast of Parkersburg, following an illness of six months. He was 67 years old.
Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Valley Reformed church west of Fern on Tuesday. The services were conducted by Rev. Albert Linneman, pastor of that church. Burial was by the side of the wife in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mrs. Hook died Feb. 6, 1943.
Mr. Hook was a native of Germany. He was born May 19, 1877. Three years later he came with his parents to America. They located on a farm in north Grundy. On March 13, 1901, he was married to Lena Walters. The couple began housekeeping on a Pleasant Valley township farm and lived in the vicinity of Buck Grove until five years ago, when they bought a farm northeast of Parkersburg.
Had Family of 11 Children
Mr. and Mrs. Hook had eleven children. Ten of the children are at home. Those who are at home are Anna, Harm, Grace, Enno, Laura, Ben, Orval, Vern, Stella, Lawrence; Rudolf lives at Cedar Falls. Surviving also are three brothers: Ben, Parkersburg; Harm and Rudolf, Aplington; two sisters; Mrs. Grace Heerts, of Holland, and Mrs. Etta Ostendorf of Parkersburg.--The Grundy Register (Grundy Center, Iowa), 20 July 1944, pg 12
