Herman Hook

Funeral services for Herman Hook, 59, who passed away late Saturday, Oct. 19th, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo from a heart condition, was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the First Reformed Church in Evansdale, conducted by Rev. Brooks Stephens, pastor.

Mr. Hook was born April 30, 1904 in Pleasant Valley township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ontje Hook. Preceding him were his parents and one sister, who died in infancy.

Surviving are four sisters, Grace, Anna, Laura and Mrs. Esther Romann; six brothers, Ben, Orville, Vern, Lawrence, Rudolph and Anno; two nieces and three nephews.

Mr. Hook and his brothers had operated the Hook Riding Stable, Rodeo and Horse Shows at LaPorte City since 1950. In 1953 Mr. Hook had established the Horse and Pony Sale Company and was known throughout the state.

The body was at the Johannsen-Rossow Funeral Home and burial was made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery at Fern, Iowa.
