Another Death in the Doeden Family

The people of this community were shocked when it became known that Fannie Doeden had passed away at the home of her father Geerd Doeden early Thursday morning Feb. 24th.

She was 16 years and 9 months of age and had the past two years been a sufferer of consumption. Several times during this period she had been very low and her death been expected but she soon rallied from the spells again and together with her younger sister was able to perform the household duties for the family. Several months ago she was taken worse and since she gradually grew weaker until finally she quietly passed away Thursday night. Those that had been with her during the night had left her alone for a few minutes and upon her return found her sitting in a rocker leaning her head on her hand and was dead.

This is a hard blow to the family as their being no mother, Fanny was the oldest daughter and was just getting old enough to take care of all the household duties, and besides this bereavement lies the more heavily upon them as this is the fourth death that occurred in that family in less than two years and the seventh in seven and a half years.

This entire community extends their heartfelt sympathy and indeed feels for them and for the father upon whom the burden lies the heaviest and mourns with them over the loss and sickness that has befallen them.

Funeral services will occur Wednesday of this week at the German Reform church Rev. Siemsen the pastor will officiate.

There remains to mourn her early departure a loving father, three brothers, one sister, an aged grandmother and a large number of friends.

And angels take their merry winged flight
Tis there Fannie, our parents cherished child
Will pass her days in glory and delight
Twas on a sad but happy day
When God sent messengers from his throne on high
To gather in his arms with love
Our blest our dearest and our cherished one
To her our memory still returns
As we wandered around our home on earth
To her on wings we'll some day fly
To join her on that happy surf.
