Miss Gertie Pruis Died Saturday
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon September 16, 1975 at 1:30 in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church for Gertie Pruis, 58. Rev. Carl Regnerus officiated. Miss Pruis died Saturday evening at 9:10 in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital from carcinoma.
Mrs. John Luchtenburg, Jr. and Mrs. Larry DeVries sang "Saved by Grace" and "Is My Name Written There?" Mrs. Clarence Walterman was accompanist. Ushers were Glen Patterson and John Akkerman. Floral attendants were Mrs. Dick Kruger, Mrs. Alfred Meester and Mrs. Herman J. Meester. Pallbearers were James C. Meester, Jake Engelkes, Harlyn Meester, Henry Peters, Herman H. Meester, and Melvin Meester.
Gertie was born June 18, 1917 in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy County, Iowa. At the time of her death she was 58 years, two months and 25 days of age. She was the daughter of Eilert and Trientje Meester Pruis. She lived with her family on the farm until April 1958 when the family moved to Grundy Center. Miss Pruis entered the hospital August 25. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church.
Survivors are her mother, Trientje Pruis; one brother, Marlyn of rural Holland, and two sisters, Henrietta and Mareka of Grundy Center. Preceding her in death were her father, and two infant brothers.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home.
