Dick Kruger Services Held
Dick Kruger, 86, of Grundy Center, passed away on Friday, August 14, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center of natural causes.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 17, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pastor Russell Muilenberg officiated the services. A memorial fund has been established.
Pallbearers were Gerald Kruger, Dennis Kruger, Paul Engelkes, Jason Carpenter, Dale Akkerman and Rusty Barfels.
Dick was born on January 12, 1912, in Grundy County the son of Gosinus and Anna Katherina (Meester) Kruger. He was united in marriage to Rose Tjebkes on March 29, 1938, at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland. The couple were the church custodians for 1954 to 1964. During this time they also took care of the church cemetery and they continued doing this until 1985.
Dick was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; grandson, Delbert Dale Kruger, Jr.; his parents; 2 sisters, Dena Kruger and Trena Freeseman; and 4 brothers, Henry, Andrew, Jake and George Kruger.
Survivors include an adopted son, Delbert and wife JoAnn Kruger of Armour, South Dakota; adopted daughter, Sandra Barfels and husband Jim of Gladbrook; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
