D. Syhlman Dies In Grundy Hospital

Dude Syhlman died at the Grundy hospital at 4:30 on Monday. Death was due to cancer, with which he had been afflicted during the past year and a half. He was in the hospital 26 days before his death. He would have been 63 years old had he lived until March 8th.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Syhlman. He was born on a farm in Lincoln township March 8, 1904, and he grew up there.

The body was taken from the hospital to the Engelkes Funeral Home, where arrangements were made. Services will be at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at the Pleasant Valley Reformed church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Gerald Osland. Burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Dude Syhlman and Jennie VanHauen were married Nov. 28th, 1938 in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple started farming in Grant township. The last nine years they resided on a farm in Lincoln township.

Surviving are the wife, seven brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Verb, Parkersburg; Will, Cedar Falls; Hans, Gladbrook; John, Dike; Harm, Parkersburg; Alvin, Dike; George, Stout. The sisters are Mrs. Jennie Everts of Parkersburg and Mrs. Ella Everts, Cedar Falls.
