Services For Grace Meyer

Mrs. Grace Meyer, 84, of 710 West 22nd Street, Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, March 3 at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, with the Rev. Carl Regnerus officiating. Mrs. Al Meester and Charles Freese sang "How Great Thou Art" and "One Day at a Time" accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Walterman, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Pall bearers were her grandsons George Meyer, Jr., Dennis Osborn, Mike Aalfs, Mike Ravn, James Meyer, Frank Hindershot, and Rick Hartzell. Ushers were Melvin Meester, Joe Meester, George Krull and Glenn Patterson. Mrs. John Lucktenburg Jr. and Mrs. Clarence Muller were in charge of floral arrangements. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church cemetery.

Following the committal service friends and relatives returned to the church for a period of fellowship and refreshments.

Grace was born June 7, 1896 in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Anna Engelkes Doeden. She attained the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 26 days. On December 7, 1921 she was united in marriage to Henry J. Meyer in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church parsonage. After their marriage they farmed in the Pleasant Valley Township, Dike area until 1950 when they moved and made their home in Cedar Falls. Grace was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 6, 1958, one daughter, Mrs. Anna Osborn, two sisters and four brothers.

Those left to mourn her passing are two sons, John of Holland, and George of Cedar Falls; one brother, Henry Doeden of Fern; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
