Lillian Kruger, 85

Lillian Kruger, 85, of Ackley Presbyterian Village, formerly of Aplington, died Saturday, March 3 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Lillian Kruger.

Lillian was born the daughter of Edd and Tillie (Boelman) Finger on December 25, 1915, south of Aplington in rural Grundy County. She received her education from a country school two miles from her home in Grundy County.

Lillian Finger was united in marriage to Jake Kruger on November 27, 1935 at St. Peters United Church of Christ in rural Grundy County. They made their home and farmed south of Parkersburg in Grundy County. They retired from farming in 1981, they moved into town in Aplington.

Lillian was a member of Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland. She enjoyed quilting and stitching, especially during quilting day at her church with the ladies. She loved spending time with her family and visits from her grandchildren who were often greeted with the cookies she use to bake. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of the lawn. Lillian became a resident of the Ackley Presbyterian Village in Ackley in 1999.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Kruger on June 26, 1983; her parents; and one brother, George Finger.

Lillian is survived by two sons, Gerald Kruger and his wife Opal of Parkersburg and Dennis Kruger and his wife Holly of Dike; one daughter, Linda Oberle and her husband John of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Meyer and her husband Oscar of Aplington and Matilda Spieker of Kalona; and one brother, Elwin Finger and his wife Irene of Aplington.

Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
