Jake Kruger Services Held
Jake Kruger, age 69, passed away of an apparent heart attack suffered in his home on Sunday morning, June 26, 1983 after being taken by ambulance to Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 1983 in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland, with Rev. Carl Regnerus officiating.
Organist was Alvina Walterman and Rosie Luhring, Darlene DeVries and Loretta Arends sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer." The congregation sang a recessional hymn, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."
Casketbearers were Curt Kruger, Mengal Kruger, Melvin Freeseman, Roger Kruger, Jay Spieker and Jim Meyer.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Jake was born the son of Gosinus and Kathryn Meester Kruger on April 6, 1914 in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County, Iowa. He attended the Pleasant Valley No. 7 school.
On December 25, 1915 he was united in marriage to Lillian Finger in German township, Grundy county, and they lived in Pleasant Valley township in Grundy county where Jake farmed until retiring in September of 1981, when they moved to their present home in Aplington.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; 2 sons, Gerald Kruger of Parkersburg and Dennis Kruger of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Linda, Mrs. John Oberle, of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Trena Freeseman, Parkersburg; and four brothers, Henry Kruger, Dumont; Andrew Kruger, Aplington; Dick Kruger, Grundy Center; George Kruger of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a 10 year old sister, Dena Kruger.
Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
