Dena Seehusen, 78, Dies At Hosp.

Mrs. Dena Seehusen, 78, died Sunday morning at Grundy County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for 3 1/2 days. Death was due to a heart condition.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, with Rev. Gerald Osland officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born September 7, 1889, in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dirck Gelder. She came to Grundy county with her parents as a young girl.

On March 13, 1906, she was united in marriage to John Seehusen near Wellsburg. The couple lived near Ackley for a short time after their marriage, then farmed in Pleasant Valley and Beaver townships.

They retired in 1943 and moved to Parkersburg, where Mr. Seehusen died May 24, 1944. Mrs. Seehusen moved to Fern in 1945, where she was making her home at the time of her death.

Survivors include three daughters and three sons, Grace, Mrs. Ed Rewerts of Hutchinson, Minn.; Bertha, Mrs. Chris Henze of Grundy Center; George of Parkersburg; Dick of Dike; John of Dike; and Annie, Mrs. Clarence Muller, of Reinbeck.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Burma of Rice, Minn., and Mrs. Annie Geerdes of the Presbyterian Home at Ackley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, two brothers and two sisters.
