Dick Seehusen, 93

Dick Seehusen, 93, of Grundy Center, formerly of Parkersburg, died July 26, 2007, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care. Funeral services were July 30 at Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Holland. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Dick was born the son of John and Dena (Gelder) Seehusen on January 24, 1914, in Buck Grove, Grundy County, Aplington. He received his education from a rural country school near his home in rural Fern. Dick was united in marriage with Rose Muller on January 20, 1938, at Rose's parents' home. They made their home and farmed near Dike and Fern. Also Dick was a handyman and enjoyed helping others with various jobs. In 1987 they retired and moved to Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; his parents; three sisters, Grace Rewerts, Bertha Henze and Annie Muller; and two brothers, George and John Seehusen.

Dick is survived by two sons, LaVerne (Dorothy) Seehusen of Waverly and Larry (Linda) Seehusen of Ottumwa; one daughter, Shirley (Louis) Schildroth of Reinbeck; eight grandchildren; two step-grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Julia Muller of Grundy Center.

Funeral services were July 30 at Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Holland. Memorials may be directed to the family.
