Etta Seehusen, Age 94, Dies

Mrs. Rieke (Etta) Seehusen passed away at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, November 10, at the Holton's Rest Home in Chatfield, MN.

Funeral services were held at the Holland Christian Reformed Church, Holland, on November 13 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Arthur Ames officiated.

Mrs. Tom Simms sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Nearer My God To Thee." She was accompanied by Mrs. Larry Stahl, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Grandsons serving as casketbearers were Vernon Seehusen, Paul Seehusen, Charley Seehusen, Edwin Seehusen, Byron Seehusen, K. Allen Seehusen, Roger Seehusen, Randy Seehusen, Kenneth Seehusen and Curtis Braun.

Ushers were Ed Brower, Jasper Westerman and Edward Schoolman. Mrs. Margaret Meyer and Mrs. Edward Schoolman were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Holland.

Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mrs. Seehusen was born September 19, 1890, at Stout, the daughter of Koert and Etta Klaassen Miller. She grew up in the Stout area. She attained the age of 94 years, one month and 21 days.

On March 12, 1912, she was united in marriage to Rieke Seehusen at St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Wellsburg. After their marriage they farmed in Pleasant Valley and Beaver townships in Grundy county until they retired to Dike. Two years later, they moved and made their home in Holland.

They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 12, 1962. On November 20, 1969 her husband passed away. She continued to live in Holland until three years ago, when she went to live in Chatfield, MN.

She was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church at Holland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, three sons, one granddaughter, seven sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by three sons, George R. of Stewartville, MN, Koert of Holland, and Jake of Chatfield, MN; three daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Grace) Ennenga, Mrs. Marlyn (Reka) Flater and Etta Seehusen all of Holland; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Tapper and Mrs. Dena Rademaker, both of Stout, Mrs. Earl (Jessie) Young and Mrs. Harlan (Carrie) Horner, both of Cedar Falls; one brother, Oscar Miller of New Hartford; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren also one great-great-granddaughter.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
