End Comes For Jurgen Reents Thursday Night

Jurgen Reents died at his home in Parkersburg Thursday night. Two weeks before his death he became afflicted with an abscess on the brain. Nothing could be done to remove this trouble. His death had been expected any time for several days. Prior to his late illness he had been in continuous good health.

Mr. Reents was 73 years old. During most of his active lifetime he resided on his farm a mile north of Fern where the Steno Jungling family are now living. Twenty-eight years ago Mr. and Mrs. Reents retired from the farm to make their home in Parkersburg.

Mr. Reents was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, Jan. 5, 1867. He came to this country with his parents in 1870 and lived for three years near Forreston, Ill., when they moved to Grundy county to make their home. On Feb. 6, 1890, he was united in marriage with Grace Sonnenberg, and they lived on a farm in Grundy county until 1909 when they retired and moved to town.

Surviving are the wife and one daughter, Mrs. Steno Jungling. One brother, H. H. Reents, resides at Benson, Minn., and the one sister, Mrs. Hote Engelkes also resides in Minnesota. Mrs. Engelkes and her seven sons were able to get through the severe snowstorm in Minnesota Sunday to come here for the funeral.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon and later at the church two miles west of Fern, of which the deceased was a charter member. The local pastor, Rev. Linnemann, had charge of the funeral services. He was assisted by Rev. Siemsen, former pastor of this church. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining this church.
