Will Harms Funeral Monday, Died Friday

Funeral services for Will Harms were held on Monday afternoon, Nov. 5, at 1:00 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church northeast of Wellsburg. Rev. Dewey Lamprecht officiated at the services. Eldon Harms was soloist. Mrs. Edward Sietsema was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Marjorie Cross and Mrs. Roy Crosser. Pall bearers were John Ervin Harms, Bernerd Harms, Vernon Meyeraan, Doyle Bausman, Lee Irl Bausman and Lawrence Bausman. Interment was made in the Pleasant Valley United Church Cemetery.

William Frederick Harms passed away around 10:30 Friday morning, Nov. 2, at the Eldora Community Hospital in Eldora due to complications of a heart attack suffered on Thursday afternoon. He reached the age of 74 years, 1 month and 4 days.

He was born on a farm in Colfax township east of Wellsburg on September 28, 1899, the son of John and Charlotte (Koch) Harms. He attended the rural school in the area. On Feb. 19, 1925, he was united in marriage to Gladys Irene Bausman at the Abbott Parsonage. Following their marriage they lived on a farm in Pleasant Valley Township for one year. They had lived in the Steamboat Rock and Owasa area for over 30 years. Mrs. Harms passed away on June 13, 1971. Since the passing of his wife he had made his home with his son, Ronald Lee Harms and family.

He was a member of the Owasa United Methodist Church.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents; his wife; two daughters and one son in infancy; 2 brothers, John and George Harms; and a sister and brother in infancy.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lu Brown of Cedar Rapids; one son, Ronald Lee Harms of Eldora; four grandchildren, Jeanette, Robert, Michael and Lori Sue Harms; one brother, Ibe J. Harms of Wellsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Olsen of Goldfield, Mrs. George (Charlotte) Getting of Steamboat Rock; Mrs. Frank (Lydia) Meyeraan Sr. of Wellsburg and many other relatives and friends.
