Rites Thursday At Area Church For Ford Eberline

Ford Franklin Eberline passed away Monday afternoon, January 26, 1976, at the Marshalltown Area Community Hospital (East) due to a heart condition. He had entered the hospital on Sunday evening, January 18th for treatment. He reached the age of 75 years, 11 months and 20 days.

He was born on a farm in Pleasant Valley Township, northeast of Wellsburg, on February 6, 1900, the son of Fred C. and Elizabeth (Benz) Eberline. He attended the rural school in the area. On January 8, 1923, he was united in marriage to Miss Rena DeNeui, at the First Christian Reformed Church Parsonage by the Rev. H. C. Bode. Following their marriage they made their home on the Eberline home place farm northeast of Wellsburg. This union was blessed with two sons. Mrs. Eberline passed away on September 9, 1945. Ford continued to make his home on the farm and then in January of 1964 he moved to Wellsburg.

He was a long time member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church of Wellsburg.

Those who preceded him in death were: his parents, his wife, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

He leaves to mourn his passing: 2 sons, Virgil Eberline of Grundy Center and Verne Eberline of Wellsburg; 2 daughter-in-laws, Mrs. Virgil (JoAnn) Eberline and Mrs. Verne (Orene) Eberline; 3 grandsons, Paul and Mark Eberline, both of Waverly, and Jerry Eberline of Wellsburg; 1 granddaughter, Janet Eberline of Wellsburg; 1 granddaughter through marriage, Mrs. Mark (Priscilla) Eberline of Waverly; 1 sister-in-law, Mrs. Lester (Gertie) Eberline of Bristow and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, January 29, 1976 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church northeast of Wellsburg. Dr. John O. Kilmer was officiating clergyman. Mrs. Sidney Penning was soloist. Organ music was played by Mrs. Edward Sietsema. Flower attendants were Mrs. Noel Drewry and Mrs. Donald Purvis. Pall bearers were Merville Eberline, Donald Eberline, Harold F. Harms, Virgil Groninga, Robert deNeui and Robert Teske. Interment was made in Pleasant Valley United Methodist church cemetery.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
