Mrs. Jacob Schoeneman Dies At Advanced Age
Mrs. Schoneman was born in Simonswolde, Eastfriesland, October 24, 1852, and died April 13 at the age of 85 years, 5 months, 19 days.
In 1877 she was united in marriage to John Schatzberg. To this union were born eight children, of whom one died in infancy. In 1884 she came to Grundy county, where they resided for some time, afterward moving to Butler county. This happy union was dissolved at the death of the husband in 1906. From 1906 to 1909 she resided in Parkersburg. In 1909 she was married to Jacob Schoneman, who in 1925 also preceded her into eternity.
From 1925 to 1932 she made her home in Parkersburg and the last six years she spent with her children.
In 1894 she came to definite assurance of her salvation in Christ Jesus, uniting with the Buck Grove Baptist church, and later transferring her membership to the Parkersburg Baptist church.
She was always a kind and affectionate mother to her children, who will now miss her gentle ways. However in her old age and weakness she has been longing to be with her Lord and Savior. He has now granted her this desire. Her scripture was taken from Isaiah 38-1. The choir sang three hymns.
She leaves her seven children: Hattie, Mrs. Fred Bertram, Shell Rock; Lizzie, Mrs. Henry Ottjes, Racine, Minn.; Chris of Cedar Falls; Lena, Mrs. Bert Immings, Parkersburg; Dena, Mrs. Lester Hoffa, Grundy Center; Ella, Mrs. Ralph D. Pabst, Grundy Center; and Ila Schatzberg of Grundy Center; one half-brother, Fred Jager of Lakota, Iowa; 32 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Six grandsons were pallbearers: Henry Ottjes Jr., John and Freddie Bertram, Ralph Immings, John and Odis Schatzberg.
