Obituary Of John Slight

John Slight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Slight, was born May 24, 1886, in Grundy county, Iowa. He lived on the farm with his parents until he moved to Aplington where he was self-employed for many years as a painter.

Mr. Slight had been in failing health and passed away Saturday evening at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, at the age of 70 years, four months and 12 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leslie in 1950 and Ralph in 1936. Surviving are three brothers: Martin and Ed of Waterloo, and Carl of Rochester, Minn. Also one sister, Mrs. Lulu Parsons, of Waterloo.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 9, at the Engelkes Funeral home in Parkersburg, with Rev. John Smircich of the Aplington Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was made in the Buck Grove cemetery.
