Final Rites Held For Herman Boike

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Andrle-Creps Funeral Home of Eldora for Herman Boike, 73, who passed away of a heart attack at the home of a son, Miles Boike, in the Ivester community Wednesday night.

Pallbearers were Arnold McAllister, Delbert Kirkdorffer, Glen Ingledue, John Koch, Ralph Slifer and Clyde Knox while honorary casketbearers were Harry Eggleston, D. L. Barton, Oscar Ryan, Harry Brown, Carl Strauss and Fred Vinton. The Rev. Walter Dimmlich officiated with burial in the Melrose Cemetery in the Ivester community. Flowerladies were Mrs. Carl Strauss, Mrs. John Koch and Mrs. Delbert Kirkdorffer and vocals were provided by Russell Kruse, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. J. D. Leonard.

Herman Boike was born June 9, 1887, in Grundy county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Boike. Following education at Fern, he was married to Alta Essig in Grundy county on Dec. 23, 1909.

A farmer by trade, Mr. Boike lived on Grundy county farms and in Eldora his entire life.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. Roy Petersen and Miles Boike of the Ivester community and Duane Boike of Bellflower, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, John Boike of Allison; and one sister, Minnie Hoffa of Grundy Center. Mrs. Boike preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 1945.
