Callaway Rites, Burial Thursday
Funeral services were held Thursday from the Assembly of God Church in Eldora for Mrs. Bertha Callaway, 75, of Gifford, who died Monday at the Eldora Community Hospital.
Rev. John Perry officiated at the services with burial in the Melrose Cemetery northeast of Whitten. Arrangements for the funeral were handled by Biersborn Funeral Home, Union.
Bertha Belle Callaway was born Aug. 11, 1892, at Liscomb to Ezra and Victoria Bittner. She was united in marriage to Herbert Callaway August 11, 1914. Her husband preceded her in death in 1949.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Lenore) Wolden of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Evan (Margaret) Lyman of Gifford, one son, Charles of Altoona, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Vernon Morey, George Foreman, Darrel Foreman, Paul, Ray and Glenn Callaway. Mrs. Francis Zelman and Mrs. Olive Lepley were flower ladies.
Music was provided by Beverly and Barbara Zelman accompanied by Mrs. Elmer Maynard.
