Gottlob Essig

Gottlob Essig passed away Wednesday afternoon at about 1:30 o'clock. Mr. Essig was born December 31, 1825 in Germany. He was married to Miss Margaret Harsh. They came to America soon after their marriage and came to Iowa in the early seventies. Four children were born to union, G. W. of Whitten, J. H. of Grundy Center, Mrs. Nelson Snovel of Grundy county and John F. of Eldora. Mrs. Essig died November 22, 1904, and since her death Mr. Essig had made his home with his children. He had been failing for some time and passed away Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nelson Snovel. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon and burial followed in the Melrose cemetery beside his wife.
