Agnes Christine Rosale, next youngest child of William and Zalena Hartman, was born in Melrose township, Grundy county, September 24, 1886, and died at the home of her parents in Melrose, July 11, 1899, aged 11 years, 9 months and 17 days.
When but fourteen months old the little unfortunate fell, dislocating the femoral bone at the hip, the result of which left her a cripple the remainder of her life. Although a constant sufferer little Agnes never lost her beautiful and cheerful spirit. She was an exceedingly bright, sweet child, whose loving disposition won her the affection and regard of not only her little associates but all who knew her. But God, the Father, has taken her to Him. He has folded those busy hands, which were always active, and closed those smiling eyes until that day when she shall look into the face of Him who said, "Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The funeral service, which was attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends, was held at the Melrose M.E. church, Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. H. Oliver of Whitten. Interment took place in the Melrose cemetery.
