Margaret I. Heeren, 79

Margaret I. Heeren, 79, of Parkersburg, formerly of rural New Hartford, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, from complications with Polio and Parkinson diseases at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. She had been admitted to Long Term Care Unit in the spring of 1999.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the Reformed Church of Stout. Pastor Dave Powers officiated. Interment was in the Stout Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Darrell Lindaman, James Heeren, Ken Mehmen, David Wilkens, Loren Heeren and Justin Byers.

Margaret was born the daughter of Dan and Alice (Eiklenborg) Andreessen on July 1, 1921, in Grundy county near Stout. She received her education from a rural country school near her home.

On Sept. 19, 1945, Margaret Andreessen was united in marriage with Henry Heeren in Parkersburg. They made their home and lived on a farm near Stout where she was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.

Margaret was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout. She liked reading, sewing, gardening and raising flowers. For many years Margaret enjoyed vacationing at Lake Okoboji with her family and traveling with Henry to Yellow Stone National Park, Arkansas, Virginia and Washington D.C.

Margaret is preceded in death by an infant son, Marvin Heeren; her parents; two brothers, Harry and Harlan; and one sister, Esther Thompson.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Henry Heeren of Parkersburg; three daughters, Dianne DeVries and her husband Kenneth of Parkersburg, Linda Heeren of Dale City, VA and Marlene Hartman and her husband Paul of Sioux City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mae Lindaman and her husband Vernon of Cedar Falls, Mildred Wilkens and her husband Alvin of Stout and Irma Christiansen and her husband Charles of Dike; and one sister-in-law, Kate Andreessen of Parkersburg.
