Frank F. Eiklenborg, 78
Frank F. Eiklenborg, of Stout, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo from a short illness. He reached the age of 78 years, six months and 16 days.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the Christian Reformed Church, Parkersburg, with Rev. David Zylstra officiating. Interment was in the Stout Cemetery. Full Military Rites were conducted by the American Legion Post #471, Dike.
Pallbearers were Dennis Eiklenborg, Steve Blocker, Keith Oldenburger, Allen Smeins, Lonnie Blocker and Neal Johnson.
Frank was born on August 21, 1920 the son of Fritz and Dena (Bruns) Eiklenborg near Stout. He received his education in a rural school near his home. From 1942 to 1946, Frank served in the United States Army in Japan, the Philippines and New Guinea.
On December 31, 1946, Frank was united in marriage with Hazel Oldenburger in the parsonage of the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg. Following their marriage they made their home on a farm near Stout. Frank was a life long farmer and retired in 1989. They moved to their present home in 1976.
Frank was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg. He always loved being a farmer and spending time with his family and especially being with his grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and four infant siblings.
Frank is survived by his wife, Hazel Eiklenborg of Stout; one daughter, Mary Johnson and son-in-law, Larry of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Julie and Beth of Cedar Falls, Neal, Jay and Daniel of Clarksville; and one brother, Elmer Eiklenborg and sister-in-law, Gertie of Dike.
Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
