Gerry Grove Services Held

Gerry G. Grove, 63, of Conrad, passed away Saturday, December 26, 1998, at University Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 29, at the Reformed Church of Stout. Rev. David Powers officiated. Burial was in the Stout Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.

Pallbearers were Brad Bowman, Randy Charlton, Ted Junker, Tim Junker, Tom Junker and Daniel McCool.

Gerry was born February 14, 1935, in Guthrie Center, the son of Walter J. and Hazel (Barnhouse) Grove. He graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1953.

On April 19, 1963, he was united in marriage to Fran E. Behrends in Stout. He was a Plant Supervisor at Ritchie Industries where he had been employed for 35 years.

He was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout and has served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher and Catechism Teacher at the church. He also enjoyed going on mission trips.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife Fran of Conrad; four brothers, Delbert Grove of Adair, and Jerry Grove, Lawrence Grove and Dale Grove, all of Guthrie Center; and 10 sisters, Evelyn Pohl of Panora, Esther Bohlender of Midway, Utah, Marguerite Pickle of Vancouver, Washington, Marie Grove of Glendale, Arizona, Gladys Rasmussen of Paramount, California, Bethene Philips of Guthrie Center, Beverly Bowman of Des Moines, Beulah Anderson of Loveland, Colorado, Patricia McCool of Mt. Vernon, and Janice Wright of Jefferson.
