Edward J. Bulthuis Services Held
Edward J. Bulthuis, formally of Parkersburg, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 9, 1996, at the Western Home, Martin Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa, of liver cancer having attained the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 14 days.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 12, 1996, at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, Iowa, with the Reverend Ken Carr officiating. Interment followed at the Stout Cemetery, Stout, Iowa.
Pallbearers were Bill Myers, Daryl Myers, Darwin Nicklaus, David Pruin, Matthew Sherman, and Paul Sherman.
Born September 26, 1915, in rural Parkersburg, Iowa, Edward was the son of Alfred and Aletta (Theerman) Bulthuis. He was the youngest in a family of four, having three sisters. He attended nearby rural schools into the seventh grade and graduated high school in 1934 from Parkersburg. Edward furthered his education at the Grundy College, University of Northern Iowa, and a school specializing in photography in Kansas City, Missouri, and also in Santa Barbara, California.
He entered the service during World War II and remained as a career photographer for more than twenty years. Edward was stationed in various parts of the United States including Hawaii and served overseas in the Philippines and Japan. He retired from the United States Air Force on December 31, 1969, receiving an honorable discharge. He then returned to Cedar Falls, Iowa, and later moved back to Parkersburg, Iowa, where he lived for twelve years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Grace Pruis of Dike, Iowa, Mrs. Gertie Bouck of Western Home, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Lyda Bulthuis of Willow Wood, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
