Services Held For Trena Bruns

Trena Bruns, formerly of Stout, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 1996, at the Grundy Care Center, Grundy Center, Iowa, having attained the age of 97 years, 2 months and 19 days. Trena had been a resident at the care center since August 28, 1985.

Born October 28, 1898, in Grundy County, Iowa, Trena was the daughter of Herman and Jessie (Wiegerts) Petersen. She received her education in a rural school near Stout, Iowa.

On February 12, 1924, Trena was united in marriage to Fred Bruns. They farmed near Stout in Grundy County, until moving to their home in Stout in 1962. She was a member of the Reformed Church in Stout, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, November 29, 1979; her parents, and three sisters, Henrietta VanEllen, Ella Petersen, and Katie Bruns.

Survivors include: a grandson and a niece who were raised as their own children; Kathryn, Mrs. Elmer Boelman, of Grundy Center, Iowa, and John Meinders, Columbia, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, 1996, at the Reformed Church of Stout, Stout, Iowa, with the Reverend John Frey officiating. Interment followed in the Stout Cemetery, Stout, Iowa.

Pallbearers were Frank Eiklenborg, Elmer Eiklenborg, William Bruns, Raymond Bruns, Dale Bruns, and Larry Johnson.

Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, Iowa, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
